34th Annual Le May Car Show, Auction, Swap Meet Extravaganza
The annual open house that used to be hosted by the late Harold E. LeMay and his lovely wife Nancy at the family home site became a tradition for car enthusiasts over 33 years. This is the only day of the year where the public can still visit the home site with several hundred cars. It is part of the two-site show that is family oriented with so much to see and do. It is a must for car enthusiasts' "to do" list.
While the new LeMay Museum in Tacoma will house many of the cars when it opens to the public in 2012, now is the time to see so much more and at the place where it all began.
In addition to over 1,000 cars, there will be an auction, showcase of private collector cars and new this year, an automotive swap meet, all on the 80 acre Marymount Event Center grounds with both indoor and outdoor displays. There are collections of dolls, antiques, and other nostalgic memorabilia. Numerous vendors will also participate.

The Family Collection is renowned for its fun events, and your attendance at this year's annual event will be another unforgettable experience. Free parking, and shuttle buses take visitors between parking lots, and between Marymount and the family site, all for $10.00 per person ($5.00 for kids) and military with ID admitted free. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm, with collector cars admitted at 8:00 am to 9:00 am.

1974 Fascination - "Tomorrow's Car Today" at 2011 LeMay Show.

A showcase feature of the 2011 LeMay Family Collection car show will be the "Tomorrow's Car Today" - the 1974 Fascination. Fascination was created by Paul M. Lewis. His first attempt at building an automobile was a 1937 Airomobile Experimental Sedan. When financial backing was not forthcoming, the project ended with the one car.
Fascination was Lewis’ second attempt. In 1962 he formed a company in Lakewood, Colorado, called the Highway Aircraft Corporation and began designing a futuristic 130 mile-per-hour automobile called Fascination. Lewis built the prototype that was propeller-driven and had one wheel in front. During a demonstration at Bandimere Speedway, a prop failed, resulting in lawsuits, and ending that chapter of Lewis' auto adventure.
Car number two, a red and white model, with a Renault engine, was very similar to car number one. Car number three was nearly complete when the stockholders voted Lewis out of the company and at that point, production ceased. Car number three was completed in Lincoln and was displayed at the Los Angeles New Car Show in an attempt to get orders.
The Carpenter family owns three of these unusual cars (five prototypes were built over the years) and it is car number two, the snappy red and white model, that will be on display at the Le May Car Show on the 27th in Tacoma.

But the past wouldn't be the past without the automobiles that are now classic, expensive and treasured by their owners. One cannot look at them without memories of the past flooding back and in the distance, the sound of Rock and Roll.
St. Albert's Rock'n August is supported by a partnership of the area Cosmopolitan Clubs, St. Albert Cruisers, and theSt. Albert Chamber of Commerce and serves as a fundraiser for the Alberta Diabetes Foundation.

The HIGH LAKES CAR CLUB is a group of people who have a common bond, in that they just love old cars! They started with about six people back in 1975 who met at the Gilchrist Restaurant, and later moved the meetings to LaPine for the convenience of more members.

The Club now has 50-plus members, who come from as far as Crescent Lake, and still share the passion of owning -- driving, working on, and talking about -- classic cars. But, they also have a great sense of Community, contributing to many local organizations from proceeds of their annual Car Show and annual Swap Meet. They have supported the Boys & Girls Club, LaPine Park & Rec, American Red Cross, LaPine Christmas Baskets, LaPine Senior Center, the Community Kitchen, Family & Community Together, Future Business Leaders of America (LaPine High School), Little Deschutes Grange…and many others.
On Saturday, June 25th they will be hosting their 13th Annual “SHOW-N-SHINE” Classic Car Show. This event will take place at the LAPINE SENIOR ACTIVITY CENTER on Huntington Road (next to Bi-Mart), from 9:00am to 4:00pm. You will see all makes and models of classic cars, from 1920’s up to 1975 - Lots of ‘50s and ‘60s cars, and classic LIVE MUSIC by Ed Criss & his band!

There will be awards & trophies for 1st & 2nd place in all classes, plus Best in Show, People’s Choice, and a prize for the club with the most entries. There will be a “50/50” drawing -- always a big hit! Lots of raffle prizes, including several CASINO PACKAGES, & various types of raffle baskets. This year the specialty raffle will be a 1971 CHEVROLET ¾ TON PICKUP (4-speed, 350 V8 engine) with tickets at $5 each. Yes…it runs great! Tickets will be sold all day for all raffles, with drawings throughout the day, until all prizes are gone.

The Valve Cover Races are a very popular part of the fun for young and old, and this year there will be a separate prize for the children’s division. Just build a race car from a valve cover and you could win! Information & rules for building a valve cover car are in the entry form packet. The “Engine Blow” pool is another event that everyone enjoys, with a cash prize for one lucky person. There will also be show tee shirts and hats for sale.
The great “Flame-On Catering” Staff at the Senior Activity Center will offer breakfast and lunch at very reasonable prices, and an “Ice Cream Social”. Outside, they will have a barbeque with hamburgers and hot dogs, plus a Beverage Court. Lots of fun for the whole family -- SEE YOU THERE!

"Cruisin the Drag" in Great Falls, Montana has fun for all the family

Getting kids involved in car shows in Sunnyside, WA began in 2005. Despite the rain and wind, 135 collector cars, many owned by the students, gathered for the first high school Show 'N Shine. The event raised $3,000 for the senior class graduation party, and has become an annual tradition since.
"It began as an opportunity for our family to set up a show whose proceeds go toward the graduation party at Sunnyside High School. It was not only a great fund raiser, but it was a chance to share how important this hobby was to us as a family and encourage our long time car friends to interact with students" stated Kim Morris, who continues as one of the show organizers. Parent Lisa DeRuyter chairs the event, though many of the students, even without cars, help with the show.
The 2011 Sunnyside High All-School Show & Shine is held at the school football field on Saturday, March 12th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Admission fee is $2.00 students and $3.00 for adults. Kids under 5 are free. Registration begins at 10:00 am. Fees for students are $5.00 per entry and adults are $10.00. Includes 2 admissions. All funds support the senior class party fund.
